I'm back from convention 2009 and WOW what a time I had! I learned so much I don't know what to do first now that I'm home! I saw sessions on our new My Digital Scrapbook program that will be coming out very soon and a session on our new Build A Bear line of stamps and die cuts! A session on the new charms/lockets! " Jingle All the Way" Candle Jar

I'm just loving the Decor Element images and thinking up new ways to use them!! Here a candle jar I made using the "Jingle all the Way" decor element and " A BUNCH" of large, silver jingle bells I bought at Hobby Lobby last year!

Christmas in July!

It's never too early to start your Christmas projects or to start counting down how many days there are until Christmas arrives!

Here is my version of the "Only ___ Days Til Christmas" frame on page 8 if of the Stampin' Up!'s 2009 Fall/Winter Definitely Decorative Catalog. (Decor Elements)

I made a couple of changes:

I used a smaller frame (11x17), and I made 6 decorative magnets to to hold the numbers onto the metal. I used stamps, punches, DSP and accessories to decorate the magnets! I found the metal sheeting at Lowe's!

It was really a fun project! Now it's your turn! Go ahead...it's not that hard!!

Meet Bonita Leathers, Guest Stamper!

I first met Bonita approximately 10 years ago. She was the daycare provider for the children of my friend and colleige, Kay Coulson. Kay had just had her second child and was on maternity leave from school. One evening, we were talkingon the phone catching up on her new life with 2 children when she mentioned that Bonita was having a "Stampin' Up! Workshop, whatever that is"! She went on to tell me she didn't think she'd go, too tired after a new baby, you get the picture! Well, another good friend and downline of mine had just been here from Carbondale, IL that past weekend and showed me this NEW craft and hobby that she was sure I would just love! "Rubber Stamping"! AND I LOVED IT!!! I loved it so much that I asked Kay to call Bonita (who I didn't know at the time and had never met) to see if it would be ok for me to come to her "Stampin' Up! workshop! (Whatever that is!) I just had to learn more about this rubberstamping stuff!! So, needless to say, I crashed Bonita's party, booked a workshop off of hers and have been addicted ever since!! (But it took me 7 long years before I signed up as a demonstrator!! Now I can't fathom what took me so long!! It's the best job EVER!!)

Bonita came to my NEW CATALOG SHOWCASE tonight and shared these adorable cards with me! They use light weight screen! YUP! Just like what's in your backdoor!!!

Cards for the Troops!

Today I sponsered a "Cards for the Troops" event in Honor of Nicci Shoudel who is an army nurse stationed in Bagdad. Nicci had told her mom that the soldiers have a hard time finding cards to send home to their families for birthdays and other occassions! Well, I knew I couldn't do much about the dangers, the heat, or the sand, BUT CARDS, NOW THAT'S SOMETHING I CAN DO SOMETHING ABOUT! We had approximately 30 people turn out today at St. Peter's United Church of Christ in Champaign and we made approximately 80 Thank You Cards for the Troops and approximately 180 cards (20 Packets) of All Occassion Cards that they can use to send back to their loved ones here at home! We had a great time. New Stampers, Veteran Stampers, Young Stampers, & Old Stampers! WAND TV showed up and interviewed Rhonda (Nicci's Mom) and will air a snipet about our event on the 10:00 PM news tonight!! A HUGE THANKS to all who came and stamped and all who came and helped me pull this off! What do you think? Should I schedule another one and make Christmas Cards for them to send?

I tried to get a picture of everyone who attended but I think I might have missed a couple!! It was fun!! Now to package it all up and ship to Iraq!

Cards for the Troops

I am hosting a "Cards for the Troops" event

Saturday, July 18th

from 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

at St. Peter's United Church of Christ

905 S. Russell St., Champaign.

This is a FREE event where we will be making "Thank You" cards to send to the troops as well as packages of cards they can use to send back to their loved ones!

There are two soldier from the St. Peter's congregation that are currently deployed. David Wentz is in the National Guard and is serving in Afghanistan and Nicci Shoudel is in Bagdad serving as a nurse in a hospital. She sent word through her mom that cards are hard to come by over there. She said another female soldier was trying to hunt up a birthday card to send back to someone in her family and all she could lay her hands on was a Halloween card!!

This is Nicci Shoudel in full gear!

So we'll make as many packages of cards as possible on July 18th and I'll send a big box of cards to Nicci and David so that they can distribute them to the troops for us!
